Welcome to the 96th Composite
Squadron, CAP/USAF. The 96th Composite
Squadron is assigned to the Ohio Wing
Group 4 Headquarters, as an Operations
and Logistical support squadron. When
deployed, our mission is to support and
maintain field operations for the Air
Force and Civil Air Patrol. In addition
to field operations, the 96th squadron
also conducts search and rescue missions
while coordinating with the Air Force
Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC). These
missions can include but are not limited
to; search and rescue, disaster relief,
Homeland Security taskings, and damage
assessment.
Additionally, as a composite squadron,
the 96th provides many opportunities for
young men and women ages 12 - 18. For
those who wish to get a taste of Air Force
life, or for those who simply want to
volunteer for their community, this squadron
has a proud history of training cadets.
Many become fine leaders in their schools,
families, and communities. Cadets are
in no way obligated for military service
if they decide to join the Civil Air Patrol.
They are however, exposed to opportunities
that average young person will not experience.
Some benefits and activities include,
but are not limited to: Military Orientation
Flights, Air Force Space Command, Flight
Schools, Para-Rescue Orientation School,
Cadet Officer School, and International
Air Cadet Exchange. For more information
about these and other exciting opportunities,
please see the Cadet
Programs section of this
site.
For men and women 18 and older, this squadron
is always accepting new individuals. Prior
military service is not required, there
are no obligations to military service;
however a complete background check must
be completed prior to joining. All members
who serve in this squadron are un-paid
professional volunteers, who work to serve
and protect the our country. If you are
looking for an exciting challenge whether
it be in Ground Operations, Homeland Security,
or training cadets, then this squadron
welcomes you.
